About Us

We are a group of mums in Islamabad, Pakistan committed to inspiring curiosity, delight and a deep love for learning in our children through our science, history and handicraft classes. We want to go beyond academics and we want our kids forge lifelong memories and friendships, so we make plenty of time for play and bonding as well.

While Science is a mainstay, SMARTIES has successfully run/organised the following programmes:

  • Handicrafts with Aisha Idris – knitting and embroidery for girls aged 7 to 10
  • English Literature with Shirin Johari – a close read of Sounder by William H Armstrong (5 sessions)
  • Script Writing and Film Making with Nazish Abbasi [5 sessions]
  • Mughal History with Aisha Idris [6 sessions]
  • First Nations Workshop with Katelynn Marie Sovie [3 sessions]

We’ve had a hybrid of onsite and online lessons through the pandemic and now have have 2 co-ops:

  • SMARTIES Seniors for children aged 8 to 12
  • SMARTIES Juniors for children aged 5 to 7

Many hands make light the work, so our co-op is pretty much a team effort. Each and every parent is involved in the planning and execution of the classes. Our group is open to all mummas who have the “We’re in this together spirit”, so if you are keen to join us, please contact us here.
